Liver Cirrhosis

Liver cirrhosis is one of the causes of liver pain. It is a condition where the organ deteriorates slowly and does not function properly due to chronic injury. Healthy tissues are replaced by scarred tissues that partially block the blood flow through the liver. The scarring impairs the organ’s ability to control infections, remove toxins and bacteria from blood, process hormones, nutrients and drugs, make proteins necessary for blood clotting and produce bile juice for absorbing fats and fat-soluble vitamins. A healthy liver has the ability to regenerate new cells when damaged. But when it is affected by chronic cirrhosis, it can no longer replace the damaged cells.
